My Story
Hi there. I'm Froshie, and I'm stoked to meet you.
Like every author (and most kids), I always wanted to grow up and become a writer of some kind. I am incredibly fortunate that being a poet and author allows me to spend my days doing what I love.
I spent my time at uni studying Film and Television, where I trained as a screenwriter. I wrote several short films and two features in my time as an undergraduate and postgraduate student. The first feature, entitled 'A Company of One', is about a teacher called Sian who imagines her anxiety as a fox which interferes with her relationships and her job. The second is the story of a broken family dealing with grief when the matriarch falls suddenly, fatally ill, entitled 'Our Perennials'. I have written a third feature since graduating called 'Atlas' about two people trying to find healing after heartbreak while staying in a hotel they can't seem to escape from.
In 2019 I began to professionally write poetry and short stories for publication (check out my publications page to read some). I attended regularly Speakeasy and poetry slams across Cornwall, where I was living at the time, and even performed at a few festivals. Many of these events shut down in 2020, and I moved to Yorkshire for a time before settling in Bristol.
I am writing a short story anthology, and a fantasy novel, and have recently finished and submitted a full poetry collection for publication. Check out my blog page for regular updates and more information about these projects. A huge focus of my writing is about ecology, and reflections of the climate crisis. It is a cause that is close to my heart, so much so I am in the process of applying for a PhD to study ecocritical literature.
When I'm not putting pen to paper, I can be found in the gym, on a hiking trail somewhere, or running with my run club, where I am a run leader. These are the things that bring me joy and community outside of my writing circles, and I will also be sharing some posts about these things too. In 2024, I ran my first half marathon (and then did two more), and 2025 I'll be running the Great North Run, and hopefully my first full marathon.
Whether it's on a page, on a mountain, or in a race, I'm an adventure seeker. Welcome to the journey.
